Strength and balance training for older adults
Purpose: To build the capability and confidence of fitness leaders to embed evidence based physical activity, progressive strength and falls prevention strategies into their existing classes, increasing program quality and supporting programs listed on the Active & Healthy website.
Objective: By the end of this session, fitness leaders will be able to understand the issue of falls in older people and safe identify and incorporate ways to align their existing classes with national physical activity and falls prevention recommendations.

Practical session: Safe, effective and fun warm up ideas for your classes incorporating balance, proprioception and mobility. Providing seated, supported and unsupported options and when to provide progress and regress.
Interactive componant: Introducing workshop case studies, discussion on incorporating them safely into our sessions.
