This professional development workshop provides fitness and movement professionals, Tai Chi instructors, and dedicated practitioners with an opportunity to deepen their understanding of Tai Chi principles through practical instruction, guided practice, and applied learning.
Over three days, participants will explore the relationship between traditional Tai Chi theory and modern movement practice, developing greater awareness of body mechanics, coordination, balance, and movement efficiency.
Topics include:
• Push Hands principles, listening energy (Ting Jin), timing, sensitivity, connection, and the practical application of Tai Chi energies
• Ba Duan Jin and internal cultivation practices to develop breath awareness, posture, coordination, and mind-body connection
• Yin-Yang theory and its application within movement transitions and force management
• Technical refinement of the Beijing 24 Form, including alignment, walking mechanics, and the Three External Harmonies
• Fundamental Chen-style training, including silk reeling, circular movement patterns, and lower-body mechanics
• Application of Tai Chi principles through the 42 Competition Form, with emphasis on balance, coordination, intent, and movement quality
Learning outcomes include improved understanding of Tai Chi principles and movement mechanics, enhanced body awareness and postural control, greater confidence in applying traditional concepts to teaching and practice, and increased knowledge of training methods that support lifelong movement, wellbeing, and physical function.
