This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to apply advanced functional anatomy to improve health and physical functionality of clients.

It requires the ability to design exercise programs using functional anatomy and biomechanics of the spine, shoulder, arm, wrist, hip, pelvis, leg, knee, ankle and foot when working with clients presenting with common pathologies or conditions.

This unit is applied by people working as Pilates movement therapists, in private practice or within fitness or health organisations where they may be responsible for conducting Pilates sessions for health, fitness or remedial purposes and may be responsible for working with clients from varying cultural backgrounds and experience.
