Additional Information

This workshop looks at how to build a clients functional capacity from a basic starting point. Time is initially spent discussing the six primary movement patterns which include push - pull - rotate - bend to extend - squat & single leg patterns. This is linked into exercising and involvement of the kinetic chain. The anatomy of the inner core unit including the location and actions of muscles such as the transversus abdominus - lumbar multifidus - diaphragm and pelvic floor are presented. Including the pivotal role that they play in building up functional capacity. This then extends on to building function with more functional/integrated exercise application with the introduction of the myofascial sling systems and how these relate to function and effective movement. This includes the anatomy and exercises for the four sling systems: 1. Lateral Sling System 2. Deep Longitudinal Sling System 3. Anterior Oblique Sling System 4. Posterior Oblique Sling System The workshop then moves on to understanding the link between functional exercises and going one step further with function and introducing the myofascial lines. This includes learning all of the muscles involved and what patterns of movement recruit which particular myofascial line. The myofascial lines discussed include the posterior chain - anterior chain - lateral chain and spiral chain. ? After a basic understanding of the sling systems and myofascial lines we shift our attention to a term referred to as 'perfecting and linking' up exercises or another way to describe this process is to 'isolate to integrate'. This is a process whereby traditional isolation and basic compound exercises are linked together to form highly functional and integrated movement pattern exercises. This provides an excellent blue print that can be applied to most clients and effectively improve their functional levels. A number of examples will be presented in the workshop. ? All attendees receive a comprehensive training manual which has all theoretical concepts explained and all exercises - photos and teaching ponts included
