The Falls - Balance and Injury Research Centre (FBIRC) - NeuRA directed by Professor Stephen Lord - conducts research into understanding human balance - fall risk factors and strategies for preventing falls in older people. The overarching aims of the FBIRC involve: (i) the accurate documentation of falls and fall injuries (ii) the identification of fall risk factors (iii) the development of feasible fall prevention strategies and iv) the effective management of people with a fall-related injury. Managed by the FBIRC - the NSW Fall Prevention & Healthy Ageing Network aims to support practitioners to improve the lives of older people through healthy ageing initiatives with a focus on preventing falls and fall-related injuries. We work closely with researchers - policymakers - health practitioners and community service providers in the development and promotion of healthy ageing services and programs with a focus on preventing falls and fall-related injuries.
